About me....
Hi, I'm Janet. A Wife & Mum of 4, I began my yoga journey about 15 years ago. As a busy Mum with a demanding job, I found it hard to get time just for me but as my children grew so did my desire to find something for both my body and mind.
On turning 40 I made a conscious decision to find out more about myself and what I enjoyed. I started regular yoga practice but found it difficult, due to a neck injury. On reflection, although I have an injury, yoga ignited a desire to take more time for myself. Yoga wasn’t difficult, the situations I found myself in were difficult. I reached a stage of ‘burn out’.In June last year I took the decision to begin my Teacher Training. I have never regretted it since.
I have completed my Level One and Level 2 Yoga Teacher Training in 2019. I have also completed Yin Yoga, Menopause Yoga, Mindfulness and Yoga for Sport Teacher training. Yoga for me is about taking time out. About taking time to focus on the breath. To focus on how I feel. To acknowledge that it’s OK not to be able to do everything!
As a Fibromyalgia sufferer, yoga helps me manage my pain. The aim of yoga is to give your mind time to catch up with how the physical self feels. You don’t have to be flexible, you just have to want to take time to breathe and move. The gentle movements will help stretch muscles and build strength. It is great for anxiety, as the focus on the breath releases tension.
I hope you will join me on the mat sometime to ‘just be’.
