Overview

Zuhre’s yoga journey started in 2000 when she took her parents to a yoga workshop and began attending yoga classes to help her manage the stresses of life. With a background in psychology and criminology, Zuhre has always worked with vulnerable groups to encourage positive behavioural change and increase levels of motivation. Zuhre has devoted many years towards self-development but it was only when she found yoga and meditation that she developed the ability to achieve a healthy mind, body, and spirit, helping her to arrive in the present moment.

Zuhre has learned to channel the benefits of pranayama, meditation, and yoga to manage the various physical, mental, emotional and spiritual challenges of life. This has enabled her to achieve the right balance in her life.

After attending a beautiful yoga retreat in 2015, Zuhre attended Yogi Ashokananda’s class in search of an authentic form of Yoga. In this moment Zuhre’s spiritual journey reached new heights. Zuhre attended his class at the Light Centre Monument and from the very first class he led her into a shoulder stand lotus pose. Zuhre never looked back, she left the class and felt all her senses had been activated and she felt a sense of coming home, she found his teaching authentic, inspirational, and life changing. Yoga became a way of life for her.

In 2016, Zuhre completed Yogi’s 200-hour Himalayan Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Course. She began teaching yoga to adults and children sharing the amazing benefits to improve the physical and emotional well-being of others. Zuhre has also completed Yogi’s 100 hour Mindfulness and Meditation Teacher Training to deepen her knowledge and self-practice as well as complimenting her teaching style. Yogi’s training helped her to understand the importance of mind-body alignment in yoga and in life.

Yogi’s inspirational teaching and mastery have laid down the foundations which have supported Zuhre’s journey into the other areas of yoga. Zuhre has two young children and during her first pregnancy in 2017 she embarked on prenatal and postnatal yoga training with Yoga London. This additional training complimented her existing knowledge and practice and has supported her journey and development which has allowed her to assist other pregnant women during this magical time.

Zuhre successfully had two natural births (one of which was a planned home birth). Her first child was premature and this resulted in some birth related trauma. However, Zuhre has been able to work through these issues and her yoga practice has been key to this journey enabling her to overcome issues around anxiety and develop greater resilience….

Her experience has given her the confidence to assist pregnant women in preparation for birth and postnatal recovery.

Zuhre completed the Inclusive Movement Therapy training with Cathy Underwood to support her work with children and families. As well as the adult and prenatal classes, she has been running mummy and baby classes, children and teen yoga and family yoga classes.

As a mother, Zuhre has been able to channel the benefits of yoga to support her through this transformative journey. In 2018 Zuhre started teaching yoga to children of all ages, in schools, nurseries and community spaces. As a result, Zuhre has introduced many children to the magical benefits and invaluable strategies that yoga can bring into their lives.

Since the lockdown Zuhre has been grateful to have had the opportunity to attend more of Yogi’s classes and during this period she has been able to build greater strength and to get back into shape after having two children. As well as enjoying the Himalayan Hatha Yoga classes, she also attended Yogi’s Prana Kriya Yoga classes which she has found very energising, enjoyable and have assisted her to heighten her sense of awareness of living in the moment. This period of lockdown has also enabled her to reflect on the impact of anxiety on her life over the years and she has taken this opportunity to heal and strengthen her mind, body and spirit. She has also developed crucial awareness around prana and how pranayama is key to build greater strength and resilience in challenging times by focusing on the breath and living one breath at a time. After all there is only this very moment.
