Overview

Yoga provides us all with a way in which to bring our lives back in balance, physically and metaphorically.

For me, yoga brings balance into today’s world - it provides us all with an opportunity to take time for ourselves and attend to our own posture and peace of mind.  Over the years yoga has helped me to cope with the many stresses of life, helped to improve my own personal self-esteem and has helped me to recover from back pain, taken me through pregnancy, and has encouraged me to challenge my body.

Many moons ago I was a part-time fitness instructor.  After a car crash, personal issues and a need for some peace in my life I graduated towards yoga practice.  Yoga helped me with my injury and to cope with the aftermath of divorce, weight loss and my desire to maintain a healthy and happy self.  After many years of personal practice I stopped belting out the step classes and trained with Yogawise, Bolton, in 2002.  I taught for around 8 years before taking a yoga teaching break.  My break came as I was undergoing IVF treatment which, I am now happy to say, was eventually successful.  Although I stopped teaching, I continued with my personal practice which helped me with the emotional stress of IVF and throughout my pregnancy and afterwards.  As my son has grown a little older and is less dependent, I felt compelled to return to teaching the thing that has consistently benefitted me throughout my adult life and share my love for yoga with others.  I therefore refreshed my teaching qualifications with a 200 hour teaching programme accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals and have returned to part-time teaching.

Substantively, I work within the NHS and understand the pressures placed on individuals within the workplace and the effects this can have on the mind and the body.  My desire is to take yoga into the workplace and to provide individuals with an opportunity to take back time for themselves and reconnect with their bodies, their breath and who they truly are.

Remember – “Yoga is not about the shape of your body, but the shape of your life – it does not care about what you have been but instead cares about the person you are becoming”.

Namaste x
