Overview

My yoga teaching certificate was gained from the Edinburgh Iyengar Yoga Centre in 2006 and I have taught yoga as my main occupation since that time. I remained a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher until 2014. Since leaving the Iyengar Association,  my teaching has been influenced and guided by ongoing training with more senior teachers, my personal practice and my continuing studies of anatomy, breathing and pelvic health. I am passionately committed to the huge and fascinating subject which is yoga. I teach group yoga classes, workshops and offer 1:1 sessions by arrangement.

I hold diplomas in both Swedish and Sports & Remedial Massage and have been fascinated by anatomy, physiology and movement for over 20 years. As well as teaching yoga, I now work to promote and encourage discussion around women's pelvic and menopausal health. Being a coach with Adore Your Pelvic Floor provides me with access to current research and advice from some of the UK's top Pelvic Health Specialist Physios. AYPF holds regular CPD sessions on topics associated with pelvic health and dysfunction. I run the 6 week AYPF online pelvic health education courses and by arrangement do online/in person 1:1 sessions and workplace seminars.  Recently, I have restarted my baby yoga classes (Birthlight trained to level 3 tutor) and support new mums by offering pelvic health awareness prior to and in the classes.

I have been attending Hazel’s classes for about 6 months or so . She explains everything really clearly and often demonstrates things on a little skeleton she has ! Hazel is so enthusiastic , it’s infectious . I like the flexibility of the classes in terms of which day I can join ... that suits me .

Fantastic classes and so grateful that Hazel kept them going on zoom throughout this difficult time. Love the method & style of teaching and highly recommend her classes.

Hazel is a great teacher, truly passionate about yoga and anatomy, her enthusiasm never dulls which keeps her students engaged in their own exploration of yoga and asana practice. I have had the pleasure of being her student for nearly 6 years now, where I feel privileged to have the opportunity to learn and be guided by Hazel. Each asana is broken down to make it accessible to all, focusing on the fundamental foundations from where the pose and your practice can grow.

Hazel Marr has been my yoga teacher for over ten years, for group classes, workshops and one-to-ones - and even group Zoom classes during COVID-19, which I have been able to join from Australia, where I live. I have not only benefited from but also enjoyed her teaching. Her knowledge of anatomy brings an extra level of depth to her classes, helping me to better understand what is happening in the body as we go through the poses. She always thoroughly explains each asana and offers modifications, which is great for me, since I am far from achieving the full expression of more advanced poses. Hazel's classes always offer something new, whether it's talking about the breath or exploring a new pose, or going deeper into poses which I wouldn't do often in my own practice. She is always furthering her knowledge of yoga through things like workshops and reading, and I love that she then shares that knowledge with us in class. I also love that she brings her sense of humor into the class!
