Overview

Hannah Tsecho offers practical, accessible, hatha yoga classes.

A one hour class will include a balanced sequence of asana ending with a 5-10 minute period of deep relaxation. Students are supported and enabled to find their breath, ease the mind, come home to the body, unpick tension, improve posture, gain strength and build confidence. Longer classes may include mantra practice (chant), pranayama (special breathing) practice and/or a period of guided meditation.

About Hannah Tsecho

"My own yoga practice and training is a rich cloth woven over more than three decades from many threads:

"I first learned simple postures from a physio’ in Berkeley (California) whilst recovering, age 19, from a near fatal car accident. Not long afterwards, I was taught meditation for the first time by my 'root lama' or teacher (the late H.E. Ven. Kalu Rinpoche), during a formative period spent living at his monastery near Darjeeling that also introduced me to Tibetan teachings on both Mahamudra and Dzogchen or ‘atiyoga’ practices for realising knowledge of the primordial state.

"Back in the UK I went to Sivananda yoga classes for a while, before opting to attend classes for more than a decade (the late) Sara Macintoch - a hatha yogini, BWY tutor and scholar of the Yoga Sutras who instilled a rigorous and precisely aligned but spacious and compassionate approach that remains the foundation of my practice. Sara also introduced me to the 'original body' author John Stirk (with whom I still work) and despatched me (when I fell pregnant) to classes with active birth yoga pioneer Janet Balaskas.

"Those experiences led in turn to my training 15 years ago to teach in the style of Vanda Scaravelli, and to intensive 'Scaravelli immersions' with Catherine Annis at TriYoga London. Here, it has been possible to work with a number of other leading teachers including Donna Farhi, Bridget Woods Kramer and Ayala Gill. Here also, I came back to hatha yoga - retraining to teach it and restorative yoga with Anna Ashby, completing a two year TriYoga diploma in 2019.

"These days I continue to practice chant, contemplation and asana informed by the verses of the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra with Anna in her classes for teachers and to refine my practice as a regular student of the peerless Californian yogi, scholar and pranayama practitioner Richard Rosen."
