Overview

I completed my teacher training with Mira Metha (author of the best selling book Yoga The Iyengar Way) at her school in London called the Yogic Path. Mira has now sadly retired from teaching and closed the Yogic Path but I hope I can pass her wonderful teachings on to as many people as possible. I am also trained as a Facilitator/Teacher of Yoga Nidra with with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta Tuli, co-founders of the Yoga Nidra Network. I have trained with Mindfulness UK as teacher of the 8 week MBSR course - the golden standard for Mindfulness courses worldwide and I am doing advanced Mindfulness Teacher Training with Breathworks. In 2020 I completed a 2 year Yoga Therapy Diploma with Yoga Campus and in 2021 I obtained a Masters in Traditions of Yoga and Meditation from SOAS, University of London.

My classes, like yoga, are for everyone! To be enjoyed and relished - there is much laughter as well as quiet, restorative down time. I also try to pass on my knowledge of Yoga Philosophy via short readings in class from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, The Hatha Yoga Pradipikda and BKS Iyengar’s Light on Yoga.  I am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council as a Therapist. I am a qualified Butekyo Instructor.

My teaching follows the Iyengar method. The method is known worldwide for its safe, progressive instruction in a wide range of postures and breath control techniques. Based on detailed, accurate knowledge, the method is also known for its efficacy in treating health problems through Yoga. I also teach Yoga Nidra in the restorative and relaxation classes.

Classes are fully equipped and taught in a purpose built Yoga Shack in the garden with a Great Yoga Wall.

The Yoga Shack is made from Cedar wood (renewable and biodegradable and sourced from sustainable managed forests). Set in a peaceful spot in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the rolling Lambourn Downs with stunning views to contemplate whilst using the fully equipped studio with underfloor heating and including two Great Yoga Walls ™*

* Origin

The principle behind the Yoga Wall has been around for decades, originally designed by BKS Iyengar in the form of ropes attached to wall hooks to assist students in various yoga asana (poses).

The Great Yoga Wall ™ is a newer version of this wall with a system of adjustable straps and more comfortable pelvic swings to accommodate every height and body type. The new system was designed by Kedric Wolfe in the early 80’s after he injured his foot on one of the older system’s wall hooks. It occurred to him that there must be a “betterway” to use the wall with more ease and versatility. He developed the innovative design of the Wall Plates which are the foundation of the patented Yoga Wall system. There are hundreds of poses that can be practiced with the help of the Yoga Wall system whatever your level of physicality.
