Overview

Hi! I'm Helen, from Grow The Green Yoga, and I am a 200h Yoga Alliance qualified teacher with specialist trainings in adult yoga for health, teen yoga, family yoga, accessible and inclusive yoga for families, and teaching yoga online. I've been a teacher for nearly 20 years, and teaching yoga for the past four. I'm currently studying for my 500h Yoga Teacher training with a focus on developing therapeutic style classes combining yoga movement and breathing with myofascial release.

I am currently teaching 1-2-1 adult online classes via zoom, with a high emphasis on targeted practices for health and recovery.

I'm excited to offer a programme of in-person classes for Autumn 2022 including three new group courses, Yoga for Health, Mother and Daughter Yoga for Mums, Teens and Tweens, and Family Yoga for families with children aged 7+. Please check out the photos below to find out more about dates and times. If you have any questions, please ask!

If you are interested in booking a 1-2-1 class, joining one of these groups in September, or, if you are interested in future classes and groups, please email me on growthegreenyoga@gmail.com

FAQ:

Q: Do I have to be bendy and skinny to come to your classes?  A: No, you really don't. Many of my students have health problems or injuries and are in different states of fitness and recovery, and so am I, so bendy and skinny is not a pre-requisite at all! Come as you are and start your yoga journey.

Q: One of my children is younger than 7 years old, can we all come to yoga? A: Yes. Whilst the classes are aimed at children aged 7 to 10, we often have older or younger siblings in the class.

Q: My child has anxiety, can we come to yoga? A: Yes. These classes are an ideal opportunity to learn a set off stress-busting techniques together which you can both discuss and use to ease anxiety.

Q: I can't make any of these class times, what should I do? A: Email me, there are new class times coming up. Plus, if you want to book 1-2-1 classes online I can work around your availability.

I’ve done lots of Yoga over the past 25 years, and I joined this live class to maintain my practice. I’m self employed and I have so many things going on in the day, it was great because I had to book time into my schedule to be able to fulfil it. Helen is an understanding, adaptive and encouraging teacher. The ethos of the lesson is to create a secure environment where people can come along and feel comfortable to learn more about yoga together in a small, friendly group. I love doing the classes on Zoom, because it’s more relaxing, no distractions, no competing against anyone. I would recommend joining the class to anyone feeling reluctant about going to an in-person group for whatever reason.

I had never done any yoga before and I joined the class after being diagnosed with uterine fibroids. I noticed the effects instantly. I had loads more energy, felt more relaxed, and I was able to use the breathing techniques to keep calm in stressful situations. This is the first time I have set aside time to do anything for my self and my health since having children, I felt the difference straight away, and my daughter noticed too. I was looking forward to the next class everyday. I like the friendly, feminine energy in the group. Helen is open to any questions, and she comes across as one of us. She is an engaging yoga teacher and a profound communicator who makes sure you can get the best out of your own body. I feel like I’ve learned a lifeskill, and I have already recommended the online classes to loads of people.

I was having some nerve pain in my shoulder and struggling to relax in the evenings. Once i'd joined this class for a few weeks, the nerve pain went away and i was able to sleep on my side again. I was surprised how relaxed i became in the evenings after the class. It's clear that Helen is teaching from her own direct experience with health issues, and not just teaching from a book, it's motivational. She is very responsive to students in the class and structures the classes in response to questions and comments that come up. She never made us feel awkward about asking questions.

I had never done any yoga before when I joined this class and I didn’t realise how much effect it would have on my physical health and mental wellbeing until I started. It is an online class with a small, supportive group of women, I feel very comfortable, there is no judgment, and no pressure to do anything unless you feel comfortable. Helen is a very down to earth person who wants to help people achieve their health potential. It’s not the kind of yoga class where it’s about looking perfect in lycra, it’s about each individual person’s needs and learning to make the most your health and fitness in your own body. If you are interested in yoga, and not sure about going to an in-person class, I would defiantly recommend this as a good place to start your journey. The class has helped me with stiff joints, muscle toning and overcoming anxiety.

Fun and friendly yoga session, with clear instructions and guidance. Helen was able to give practical suggestions for specific issues, e.g. hip and wrist stiffness, which I can do at home. I'm feeling really relaxed, would definitely join again.
