Overview

I was introduced to yoga over 20 years ago by my mum, she had an old VHS videotape which I played over and over again.

I loved the different positions it guided my body into and how it made me feel. From then on it has stayed me, I was hooked.

Throughout my 20’s I was very much into intense, physical yoga and practised Bikram Yoga. I was also traveling at lot, it was easy to take yoga with me. All I needed was my body and my breathe, it helped ground me.

In my 30’s I gradually moved my practice away from Bikram and into Hatha Vinyasa Flow. I needed to nurture my body to help me through childbirth and motherhood.

In my 40’s I finally settled and it was then I wanted to teach others about the joy of yoga, I was also frustrated about the lack of yoga classes I wanted to make yoga more accessible.

I did my Yoga Teacher Training 200hr through Camyoga. It was inspirational, it moved me more towards meditation and pranayama. I was fascinated with the history and philosophy aspects of which made me analyse certain aspects of myself.

Once I qualified I opened up Sawston Yoga.  I started at first from my home then built a Yoga Studio nestled in the trees of a beautiful garden. I wanted to create a safe haven were people could come to learn, to practice, to feel better. My practice now has moved more inwardly, by discovering Forrest Yoga, Yin Yoga and Reiki. I love the way they all focus on healing the body and mind. I met Ana Forrest and did a Yoga workshop with her which blew me away physically and emotionally. I attend Forest Yoga weekly as part of my own practice. I was lucky to find an amazing Yin Yoga teacher Dawn Wright who taught me have to teach Yin Yoga. Reiki has just recently come into my life and the healing benefits are immense. I have found a way to combine my nursing vocation with Yoga to help people with their physical and mental wellbeing.

I am so blessed to have found yoga all those years ago. Writing this has made me realise my own Yoga journey, I know It will always be a part of my life.

I really want to open up Yoga to others, to know the joy it brings.
