Overview

Jen has a background in dance and love of body movement, she studied at London Contemporary Dance School in her youth. Later she discovered the benefits of yoga for herself as an Occupational Therapist, Mental health specialist.  She attributes yoga and mindfulness practices as the reason she has remained in mental health practice for the duration of her lengthy OT career;  and as a  lifeline when she has faced adverse circumstances in her own life.

Jen lived in Bermuda for 19 years where she learned from many different yoga teachers in various styles: Iyengar, Integral, YinYoga, Kriya, and Ashtanga forms of yoga practice, participated in Inner stillness meditation retreats and yoga community events. She studied with YogaKids International with Marsha Wenig and taught yoga to children from toddlers to teens in Bermuda schools and not for profit organisations. Yogakids is a fun fusion of yoga with play and other sensory learning through co-creative elements drawing upon our multiple intelligences.  Soon after she studied with Integrative Yoga Therapy RYT 200 hr program in Canada, with Heather Greaves IYT Yoga Therapist. This approach to yoga teaching enables teachers to adjust and adapt yoga practices for individuals with unique needs. Jen is also a Registered Mindfulness Now Teacher; she studied with Rachel Ashcroft and Tony O’Shea Poon; Mindfulness Now Teacher Trainers for Central England College. She continues to engage with CPD opportunities through the wider yoga and mindfulness community and as an OT. Recently she has had the opportunity to learn from Dr Alistair Wilson of Mindfulness Scotland for the pilot of a veterans trauma informed MBSR course and she offers Mindfulness practice as part of a wellbeing program for healthcare staff working with trauma.

Jen recently completed a course of study with Lynn Stoller, OT and IYT Yoga Therapist, and founder of the Sensory Enhanced Yoga Institute.  Inspired by Lynn’s work and the results of the Iraq Yoga Study with soldiers in a combat zone, Jen plans to  further integrate yoga and mindfulness into her OT work with a veterans mental health charity and hopes to extend the reach of yoga as therapy with other populations with lived trauma experience or for those that experience vicarious trauma through their work.

Jen offers, sensory enhanced yoga and mindfulness based OT services for trauma healing. She is experienced in providing teletherapy sessions 1:1 and online group courses courses during the pandemic.
