Nicola Percy – Yoga
I became a student of yoga over 20 years ago and a teacher 14 years ago.
A deep ongoing passion for personal development has led me to learn a range of yoga styles including Iyengar (with an emphasis on correct alignment), 8 limb Astanga (holistic yoga principles), mindful gentle yoga, yogic and Buddhist meditation and Qigong. These elements come through my teaching.
After many years of practising yoga, in 2004, I became an accredited Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance at Mount Madonna Center, California. In 2008 I added pregnancy yoga teacher training to my skills through the British Wheel of Yoga.
I teach yoga in a mindful way, combining asanas, breath, and visualisation. My background as a trained professional artist also gives my practice a unique style.
I teach all kinds of people from beginner level, upwards. Sessions always include a warm-up, followed by flowing sequences with a focus on the breath. We also explore individual poses, pranayama, and meditation to deepen the practice.
I enjoy teaching 1:1 and group sessions and have a special interest in women's health and wellbeing. I recently returned from living in California for 8 years where I taught classes at Mount Madonna Centre and privately.
I offer guidance and encouragement for people to practice together and develop in a supportive and kind environment. My students experience greater strength and flexibility, improved well-being and focus, and for many the reduction of troubling symptoms such as headaches, insomnia and body pain.
