Glenn Johnson
My name is Glenn Johnson and I began my Yoga journey over twenty years ago- whilst studying Acting at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, I was introduced to yoga by my dance teacher Ed Clarke (the founder of Tirpsichore Yoga Theatre Company) who was an early inspiration. Yoga proved to be an ideal antidote for the stresses and strains of the acting life. I was then taught for a number of years by senior local yoga teacher Alison Brooks.
Training
In time I chose to train as a yoga teacher myself and was fortunate to have the opportunity to train with the Chekira Wholistic Trust under Brenda Brown - herself a pupil of the late Wilfred Clark (founder of the British Wheel of Yoga and later FRYOG). Brenda has now retired, after a career spanning over three decades.
Many inspirations
Throughout my career I have attended workshops with many inspiring teachers including; Peter Blackaby, Swami Saradananda, Julie Friedeberger, Sabine Blackaby-Schmidt, Bill Woods, Sophe Hoare, Alison Brooks, Judith Richards to name just a few.
Chair based yoga for the over 60's and the less able
In recent years, in addition to traditional Hatha Yoga classes, I have specialised in Chair-based Yoga for the elderly and the disabled and offer these classes weekly at four venues in the Woking area. I also offer talks and demonstrations of chair based yoga to interested groups and organisations.
Yoga For All Woking
I have now been teaching for 12 years at a variety of venues, and, as the name of my company suggests, to a diverse range of students. I pride myself on having a flexible approach to teaching and take care to adjust style and content according to the ability, age and fitness level of my students. My motto is:
"No one should be excluded by age or infirmity from the practices of Yoga - Yoga is India's gift to the world- my mission is to make yoga available TO ALL "
Workshops
This year I plan to teach Workshops on The Chakra energy centres. and make them available as CPD courses to interested students
