Overview

I started practising yoga around 13 years ago, originally encouraged by an inspirational friend who subsequently became my teacher for many years. I was struggling with back problems and had started to suffer with migraines. I was reluctant to take daily medication and she suggested I try yoga as a way of improving my overall wellbeing. I noticed an improvement in my physical health almost immediately but as I practised more, I became increasingly aware of the link between the mind and the body and realised that yoga had, just quietly and unassumingly and without any fanfare, become a big part of my life.

Keen not only to deepen my understanding of yoga but also to give back a little of what I have been incredibly grateful to learn from the amazing teachers who have guided me past and present, I completed my teacher training in 2015 (Yoga Alliance 200hr RYT at the Yoga Life Studio, Eastbourne).

I strongly believe that yoga is for everybody and have a special interest in working with those who may be differently abled. I have since undertaken additional training in teaching Yoga for Adults with Special Needs (Special Yoga Foundation, London).

I am also passionate about raising awareness about dementia and have trained as a Dementia Champion with the Alzheimer’s Society as part of the Dementia Friends initiative, which aims to create dementia friendly communities. As a Champion, I run information sessions in the local community for those interested in becoming a Dementia Friend.

About my classes

I understand that starting something new can be daunting and aim to create a warm and welcoming environment where everyone, both beginner and experienced yogis, can feel comfortable and supported to develop their practice at their own pace.
