This workshop focuses on how to align a posture from the awareness of the foundation drawing upon the element of earth, prthivī, which expresses the principle of solidity and groundedness.

A rooted foundation offers the basis for creative expansion that is resilient and lasting. A deeply felt and solid foundation in harmonious relationship with gravity can reveal the subtler aspects of a posture which then flows with beauty and grace.

Foundation not only refers to that part of the physical body which makes contact with the floor, it can also refer to the base of the central channel of the subtle body, suṣumnā nāḍi. Drawing upon awareness of both, we will invoke prthivī as a basis for a cohesive and expressive form. All five senses are engaged in perceiving the earth element as it expresses the fullest embodied experience.

The practice includes a variety of poses with an emphasis on standing and balancing postures. Prāṇāyāma, chanting and meditation are included as part of the workshop.
