As we journey through our practice together today let Ahimsa and Ganesha be your companions and guides …

For me these two go hand in hand – Ganesha is said to be the remover of obstacles or the notion that there are any – depending how you look at it ;)  There are moments in everyones life that are full of self doubt & judgement.  These moments disconnect us from our inner strength and the ability to move forward.

Ahimsa is the foundation of the Yamas & Niyamas (universal ethical values).  When observed we reduce the need to CONTROL, JUDGE, REACT, COMPETE, PROTECT – and most importantly we let go of FEAR – which often fuels violence on many levels – be it to ourselves or others.

Ahimsa is about cultivating sensitivity – when we lack sensitivity we tend to force, which creates tension, frustration and injury!  When we approach our postures and indeed our life with Ahimsa as our guide we heal rather than harm ourselves, creating fluid lines which reflect an inner beauty and refinement.  This doesn’t mean we become overly soft in any way, rather we connect fully and completely with our true inner strength – a strength that has no bounds as the imagined outer strength may have …

The Yoga practice guides you into Savasana (relaxation pose) to end.  You may wish to simply rest and relax in stillness for some time to fully absorb the benefit of your practice.

If you have time to add a longer relaxation you might like to follow the guided Yoga Nidra journey.  Yoga Nidra is a great treasure – a potent meditative resource for healing, insight and empowerment.  It enables us to enter a state of consciousness in which we are invited to re-encounter the essential truth of who we really are.  It also provides us with the opportunity to experience deep freedom ….
