Kriyas: the Cleansing Power of Yoga

An autumnal series of online workshops
15 Sept, 22 Sept, and 29 Sept 2023

Join as many as you like to promote your annual Autumn-Cleansing
Workshops meet on Fridays, 7-8 am (London time)

This series of workshops is based on Swami Saradananda’s book “The Cleansing Power of Yoga”

Less known than Spring-cleaning, the Autumn change-of-seasons is equally conducive to intensive cleansing. After the richness of Summer, a yogi’s body needs to prepare for the inward-moving, more-meditative energy of Autumn and Winter.

Swami Saradananda will guide you in ways to establish a daily routine of kriyas and pranayama. She will also offer suggestions for a more intense detox at this important juncture of seasons.

Without physical purification, you will probably find that it is more difficult to achieve your goals in life - whatever they may be. It is well worth the effort to make time to cleanse your body, and to express gratitude that you are able to do so.

This series of workshops is based on Swami Saradananda’s book The Cleansing Power of Yoga

Workshop 1: Respiratory system

Many dedicated yogis put great emphasis on purifying the respiratory system. In addition to pranayama, kriyas (cleansing techniques) have far-reaching benefits. They can enable not only an enhanced ability to ‘smell the roses’, but also stronger lungs, clearer skin, and a calmer, more transparent and steadier mind.

Workshop 2: Digestive system

In addition to eating a pure diet, yoga teachings recommend various techniques to cleanse the digestive system and purify the sense of taste. Some of these are beyond the scope of what is recommended in normal detox programmes.

Workshop 3: the Eyes have it

As you get older, your eyes tend to lock into habitual patterns and lose their flexibility. There is a whole range of yoga practices that can assist you in maintaining visual agility and improving your eyesight. Yoga is about learning new ways of seeing and relating to the world. But first you need to purify you physical eyes so that the inner-vision may be amplified.
