Hidden deep within the body the Psoas is one of the most important central muscles of the human structure. Even though the Psoas major and minor do not attach to the pelvis itself these deep abdominal muscles are a key determination of the position of the pelvis and the functional stability of the body.

The action of the Psoas can stimulate and massage organs such as the intestines, kidney, liver, spleen, even reproductive organs can be affected by a tight Psoas muscle. Because of its close proximity to major organs the Psoas can affect the central and peripheral nervous system. The Psoas reacts and tightens in the 'fight or flight" response of the sympathetic nervous system. Learn the importance of releasing this muscle for any students who have experienced trauma in their lives.

What will teachers get out of this workshop?

Bridget will explore how to find it, how to test if tight or weak and how to stretch and strengthen and bring the body into balance and harmony.

When the Psoas muscle is tight or weak it effects the ability to perform standing poses, backbends in a safe and effective way. This workshop is for all levels of teachers. Poses and exercises will be taught to both stretch and strengthen.
