Foundation Course Requirements

This is the main route for qualifying as a full yoga teacher. To find out if you're eligible to have your Yoga Teacher Training Course accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals, read on.

Course Requirements
(Per Syllabus)

  • Min 200 hours (180 contact hours). If the course is over 200 hours, at least 90% must be contact hours.
  • Approved Training Providers can add up this event.
  • Anyone looking to teach can attend this event
  • 70% of the Course must be taught by a YAP Registered Senior Yoga Teacher

Additional Requirements for Intensive Courses

  • Must be run over a minimum of 21 days
  • Daily schedule with a breakdown of hours clearly displayed on Trainer’s Profile/Website
  • Post Course Observation and/or Assisting in classes - Minimum of 30 hours
  • The trainer must have evidence of asana experience, for example, video/photograph of asana, telephone or skype interview.
  • The student must have a strong daily practice with at least 2 years of experience.
