Find Answers to Your Questions
You can record all further training which you complete, on your profile on our website. This can be done by logging in and completing the Further Training box in the account details section. You can also reference your further training in the About Us section of your profile.
We do not have any requirements for you to complete CPD. We strongly encourage that you take further training where and when you can as this no doubt helps you become the best teacher you can be.
If you have completed a physical course in another type of yoga i.e. not an online course, you can add this to your YAP profile in a few ways.
- As a specialisation, this is used as a search criteria on our website, so we recommend you keep this as as up to date as possible.
- As an additional training.
- In your biography.
Please keep a note of all additional training you complete as we can consider these if you upgrade your membership level.
Insurance
The master insurance policy will cover members to teach as per the training they have received. If you have completed a physical training course (not on-line) in any type of yoga and go on to teach you will be insured. Please keep a copy of your certificate in a safe place, in the event of a claim you will be required to send copies of all training certificates to Balens.
Yes of course, we would love to have you remain a member of Yoga Alliance Professionals even after you move.
Our certification is recognised worldwide and we have members from all over the globe.
The main thing to keep in mind is that the insurance provided as part of our membership only covers for teaching abroad so long as you are a resident (domiciled) in the UK or EIRE. If you are permanently moving to another country the insurance will no longer be valid.
We are able to offer insurance to members who are domiciled within the following European Countries; The Netherlands, France, Spain, Cyprus, Greece and Malta. For further information, including prices please get in-touch with the office on 0131 659 9922.
The option of taking a Career Break works very well for those members who are pregnant/injured/taking a break from teaching and want to put their Yoga Alliance Professionals membership on hold for a while and don’t want to go through the whole application process again in the future.
During a Career Break, you are not considered a full member of YAP and do not have access to all of the benefits. For the period of the Career Break, you won’t have insurance through YAP.
The duration of a Career Break is 2 years (You can of course return before the 2 years is up). During that period you will still receive important emails. Your profile on the YAP website will show that you are currently on a Career Break*. Your profile will stay active on our website, you can still be contacted by the public.
There’s a one-time fee of £25 to pay, once you join us as a full member again this fee will be deducted from the full membership price.
If you think this could be an option for your current situation, please let us know and we'll be happy to arrange this for you.
*Will only show as being on a career break if your profile was 100% completed before career break payment was made.
Please log into your account and make the necessary changes to your profile.
If you would like to change your name on your membership or insurance documents please contact the office as there is an administration fee (£25) to amend your documentation. You may wish to wait until your renewal, at which time there will be no charge.
What a great question, the answer is very SEO (Search Engine Optimisation ) friendly indeed! But, as with all SEO practices, it can require a bit of thought on your part.
The default SEO settings for the profile page pulls information from several variables. ( variables reference a stored value which changes from member to member, like your name or Company )
Optimising your profile for search engines
It is important for your profile information to be accurate and up to date. For example, if Joanne no longer lived in London or conducted business under an alternate name, such as her maiden name. It would be difficult to find her profile via search engines or on the website.
If you are familiar with SEO and would like to request specific Listing Meta Titles, Listing Meta Keywords orListing Meta Description please get in touch, as we are keen to help you make the most out of your profile.
This is your chance to sell yourself. We ask that you include a minimum of two sentences about yourself and your yoga teachings.
You may include details of any further training or additional specialisms you may have. A good place to start is to use the biography which you have on your website. Remember to keep it up to date as members of the public can search for teachers in their area and contact you.
This will not happen until we have approved your application and you have completed your profile to 100%. When your profile is 100% complete you will be able to select a button that says 'click here to activate your account'. This will allow a member of our team to make sure everything is finalised and activate your account!
A member of the public looking for either a Private or Corporate class can request this through a teacher for this on our website.
We receive business leads automatically, and a member of our team manually matches them up to three members that we think best match the business leads requirements. We limit these to three, so the member of the public doesn’t get inundated with responses!
Note, the more you use your profile, the more likely we’ll match you up with a lead. This allows us to know that you are still actively teaching!
If you have a training school registered with YAP and you yourself are a teacher member (yoga teacher, Experienced yoga teacher or SYT) then you will have 2 profiles in our system.
It is a requirement for each person or body registered with us to have a profile, each account must have separate email address as this acts as the unique identifier in our system. These accounts cannot be merged.
You can teach abroad. If you have our insurance policy, you are insured to teach abroad* for an unlimited period of time, as long as your official address of residency is still within the UK or EIRE.
*Our insurance policy does not provide cover to teach in the USA and Canada. You will need to organise separate cover for this. At this time we are unable to arrange or recommend insurers who offer cover for these countries.
It is important to keep accurate notes and contact both Balens claim line (01684 893 006) and Yoga Alliance Professionals as soon as possible.
Your insurance will be activated and your documents sent once you have completed our application process.
The sooner these steps are completed, the sooner we can activate and email your insurance documents.
Our application process is as follows:
We aim to get your Insurance Documents to you within 2-3 working days of the renewal payment (usually sent within 24 hours).
If you need your documents sooner (such as on the same day), we can expedite the process for a £25 admin fee.
Please note we can only send your documents, once your profile has been completed to 100% on our website.
Is it possible that you have signed up before using the same email address?
Our unique identifier for our members is their email address. If there is already an account with that address you will not be able to create a new account. Give us a call on 0131 659 9922 and we can help you out!

Is Yoga Alliance Professionals affiliated with CIMSPA?
