"I wanted to say a big thank you to you and the team there at Yoga Alliance Professionals. When ever I have called I have always been able to speak to a real person which is so refreshing. Everyone has always been extremely friendly and helpful. It makes me feel part of an organisation even though I run my small business by myself. So a big thank you to you all!"

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CPD/Further Training requirement?

We do not have any requirements for you to complete CPD (Continuing Professional Development). However, we highly encourage you to take further training as much and as often as you can. This helps you become the best teacher you can be.

Find registered further training courses here.

What are membership levels?

Yoga Alliance Professionals have 3 distinct membership levels that reflect your knowledge and experience.

Yoga Teacher

What Is The Experience?
Teachers on this membership level have been teaching yoga for up to 4 years and have up to 2000 teaching hours (up to 30% of this can be substituted for training hours).

Experienced Yoga Teacher

What Is The Experience?
Teachers on this membership level have been teaching yoga for between 4 - 7 years. They also have at least 2000 teaching hours (up to 30% of this can be substituted for training hours).

Senior Yoga Teacher

What Is The Experience?
Teachers on this membership level have been teaching yoga for at least 8 years and have a minimum of 4000 teaching hours (up to 30% of this can be substituted for training hours).

What qualifications do you need to be a yoga teacher?

It is highly advisable that you have at least 2 years of regular yoga practice before enrolling on a yoga teacher training course. This experience ensures you can keep up with the course content and focus on developing your teaching skills and knowledge, not advancing your practice.

For Yoga Alliance Professionals, the minimum qualification required to teach yoga is a 200-hour teacher training course.

I've qualified in another style, can I add this to my account? Will I be insured?

If you have completed a physical course in another type of yoga i.e. not an online course, you can add this to your YAP profile in a few ways.

- As a specialisation, this is used as a search criteria on our website, so we recommend you keep this as as up to date as possible.

- As an additional training.

- In your biography.

Please keep a note of all additional training you complete as we can consider these if you upgrade your membership level.

Insurance

The master insurance policy will cover members to teach as per the training they have received. If you have completed a physical training course (not on-line) in any type of yoga and go on to teach you will be insured. Please keep a copy of your certificate in a safe place, in the event of a claim you will be required to send copies of all training certificates to Balens.

Is There A Code Of Practice?

This Code of Practice is a summation and declaration of acceptable, ethical, and professional behaviour by which all Yoga Alliance Professionals members agree to conduct the teaching and business of Yoga. Read here!
