Safeguarding is the action taken to promote the welfare of children and vulnerable people and protect them from harm. If your business comes into contact with children or vulnerable people, policies and procedures should be put in place.
What should be included in a Safeguarding Policy?
The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) provide an Example of a safeguarding policy statement this includes:
- The purpose and scope of the policy in a statement
- Legal framework
- What you believe
- What you recognise
- How you will seek to keep children and vulnerable people safe
- Any related policies and procedures
- Contact details for anyone who wants to report an incident
