Can I Pause My Membership?

A Career Break is an excellent option for members planning to go on maternity/paternity leave, recovering from an injury, or taking a break from teaching. It allows them to temporarily pause their Yoga Alliance Professionals membership without needing to reapply.

During a career break, you are not considered a full member of YAP, but you still have reduced access to member benefits. You won’t have insurance through YAP/Balens for the Career Break period. The duration of a Career Break is up to 2 years (you can, of course, return before the 2 years is up). During this period, you will still receive important emails.

There’s a one-time fee of £25 to pay, once you join us as a full member again this fee will be deducted from the full membership price. This process will also save you the hassle of going through the whole application process again in the future and paying the new membership fees.

Our team will process your request within two working days. 

Please be aware that you are not eligible to take a Career Break during your membership/insurance year. You are only eligible to request a Career Break at the end of your current membership and insurance year.

If you do not meet the requirements for a career break, your application will be rejected.
