Overview

I have been teaching reglarly for 7 years.

Most recently I have done classical Hatha and am initiated into the line of Adi Shankaracharya through Sivananda yoga and the divine life society. I have just completed the advanced training and am certified as a yoga acharya and yoga master.

I have trainings in Ashtanga, vinyasa, rocket, yin, and most recently a specialism in PTSD in military settings. I have also therefore completed level one I-rest yoga Nidra.

I have done a week of specialist adjustments, Ashtanga primary series with David Swenson at Triyoga, and aerial yoga. Also yoga for kids, which I teach along with creating stories that the kids then enact within the yoga asanas.

I have come to yoga as a second career, my first as a successful designer maker. I began to do a lot of sport, weight lifting, sports climbing, kick boxing, archery, and then came to yoga.

I started teaching during my training, by covering, and starting up a class at a homeless centre in Camden, where I taught addicts and alcoholics and those with mental illness as well as being homeless.

I set up my own studio and gave opportunities to 18 teachers at a time to teach all forms of bodywork including acroyoga, somatic movement, nidra, kirtin, heath, vinyasa, rocket, dynamic, ashtanga, pilates, personal training, kids yoga, community classes, chanting. It was disastrous financially, but after just over a year, we had 500 students coming regularly. the studio has been taken over by another couple and is now very successful.

I involve myself with worthy causes, including making males to raise funds for the refugee yoga organisation in east London called ourmala. The project was called beads not bullets.

I love to teach individually too.

I love sequencing, although The Sivananda classical Hatha sequences are profoundly effective and I am enjoying these in my own practise and in my teaching. I believe that the western approach to yoga enabled me to find a pure yogic discipline and I am therefore exited to also offer my previous experience and wide knowledge of anatomy and sequencing where appropriate.  I develop a complete practise with a view to preparing all students within their onward yoga journeys so they are confident on the mat where ever they are.

Many of my students have one on to take teacher training themselves.

I enjoy beginners and helping advanced practitioners alike. For example the course to enter a new studio, to know how to warm up, to know how to be confident in breath, bandas, moving energy, focus (nidra quality of awareness within asana) alignment, the 8 limbs, and the quality of union.

I also teach cleansing practises and workshops in detox, and basic ayurvedic methods.

Annie is a great passionate teacher. Her sessions are intellectually interesting as well because she explains the philosophical ideas and how each physical movement works. After every session, I feel refreshed, energised and calm at the same time.
