Northern Ireland's prime minister has announced a pathway outlining the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions. The proposed dates are subject to change and will depend on the prevailing public health situation in Northern Ireland.

The information below includes the most significant dates for the gradual return of in-person yoga classes.

As always, please follow the government guidelines in your local area to ensure you are following lockdown legislation. If you are unsure of what the restrictions mean for your yoga classes, we recommend contacting your local council.

12/04/2021 - Organised group activities of up to 15 people can resume outdoors in a public space.

30/04/2021 -Leisure centres and all indoor facilities can reopen for individual training. Indoor private yoga classes can resume in Covid-secure venues such as gyms.

  • Self-contained accommodation can reopen for retreats etc (providing yoga classes are held outdoors.)
24/05/2021 - Indoor group yoga classes can resume with limited numbers in Covid-secure venues such as gyms. Class sizes will be determined by the venue and social distancing protocols.

  • A risk assessment must be completed where there are over 15 people taking part in a class held indoors. If there are less than 15 people in attendance (including the teacher), a risk assessment is not required.

  • Outdoor yoga classes for less than 30 people do not require a risk assessment.

  • The person responsible for organising a gathering must be able to provide: a copy of the risk assessment and an account of the reasonable measures taken.

  • All venues will be required to collect customer details to help with the Test, Trace, Protect contact tracing programme.

  • You can read our full guide to teaching indoors here.

** The next review for lockdown restrictions is due to take place on the 8th of July.
