Overview

On my way home from my very first yoga class I was overcome by an amazing sense of wellbeing. I had gone along because I wanted to make a difference to my body, but what I hadn’t been expecting was this wonderful sense of calm. I had really enjoyed the energising postures, but the focus on the breath during the practice had rested my mind too. A yogi was born – and twenty years later I am still practicing and teaching yoga!

A love of yoga evolved into a desire to teach and I graduated from the Sam Rao Yoga School in March 2013. Over the years I have experienced different types of yoga, not only through teaching but also my own personal practice and my continuing professional development. I continued my own yoga practice whilst I was pregnant with my daughter and later trained to teach yoga for pregnancy. I have also completed further training in vinyasa, restorative, yin yoga and yoga nidra.

I really enjoy Sandi’s yoga sessions. She has a calm and relaxed teaching style and models basic as well as more advanced postures. I particularly enjoy her Yoga Nidra sessions which are equally helpful for my physical and mental health!

I started my ongoing yoga journey about 10 years ago when I first met Sandi. From the very start Sandi was welcoming and understanding and slowly introduced me to the benefits, both physical and mental, of yoga. Sandi teaches Hatha Yoga encouraging her students to strive to meet their goals without pushing beyond the individuals capabilities. Her teaching has enabled me to maintain a level of flexibility I would not have thought possible at my age and has given me the ability to control my inner feelings. The latter was extremely useful in coming to terms with the loss of my parents and yoga gave me a way of release through quiet meditation when stress levels peaked. My 'go to' happy place is listening to Sandi's beautiful, calming, gentle voice as she leads her students through a class. I still enjoy the times when I can join Sandi's extended relaxation classes even though I now practise Vinyasa Yoga - it's always a pleasure to return to my roots and my mentor.

My family and I have been going to classes with Sandi on and off for several years and always receive a warm welcome. Sandi is very in tune with the class instinctively knowing if assistance or modification of postures are required. Classes are fun and friendly.
