Overview

I am a Cumbria-based yoga teacher with classes predominantly in Carlisle.

I decided to learn more about yoga so that I could share it with people who would like to improve their mental wellbeing.

My course incorporated physical practice (asanas), breathing practices (pranayama), mediation, mantras, philosophy, yoga therapy and yoga for health. Although we won't cover all of this during the average class, if anyone is interested in learning more, I'd be happy to pass on the knowledge.

One of the things that stuck with me most significantly is that yoga practice is more of a life style choice than an exercise class. The asanas (physical practice) are just a vehicle to be able to sit comfortably long enough to meditate. In today's society, we all sit for long periods of time. We sit at a desk all day and all we want to do when we get home is to sit!

What if we learnt to sit in a way that improved our mental wellbeing at the same time? Improve our posture and get those vital energies balanced and flowing correctly?
