I am a 500 hour accredited teacher having completed my 200 hour level 1 certificate in December 2017 with Bristol City Yoga and my Advanced Teacher Training, 300 hour Vinyasa Flow, with the internationally acclaimed Claire Missingham in London. This particular training, taught to the highest standards and with the greatest depth entirely by Claire, honoured the deep authentic traditions of yoga and encompassed vinyasa flow training, assists, Bhakti yoga and Kundalini Kriyas..
My inspiration to follow this path was ignited by many of the teachers I have had the privilege of studying with, all of whom have shown incredible grace and love in supporting and encouraging me, but I must make special mention to Heidi Pascual - Lotus Love Yoga in Colchester whose beautiful practice and luminous wisdom touched my heart. Special mention also to Bec McBride of Bec Yoga and Kerrie Prescott of Yoga Body Zen Mind without whose support I would not have been able to complete the journey.
Since completing my training I have undertaken a number of additional trainings and workshops including an in-depth anatomy course, vinyasa flow weekend training and specialised workshops with BWY and most recently an Aerial Yoga training with Oaklands IYC and Yin training with the renowned Yin teacher Bernie Clark. I am and forever will be a dedicated student.
I teach traditional lineage based hatha & vinyasa flow in a beautiful bespoke garden studio in my back garden. This private tranquil space, full of light and warmth was built by my incredibly talented husband and neighbour! I very quickly identified that my dharma lay in teaching small classes where I could genuinely offer individual attention and gentle hands on assists. My Clevedon classes are limited to 8 people max.
All of my classes are friendly and inclusive. I offer classes which cater for complete beginners as well as more experienced yogis. Props and variations are made available to ensure that everyone can participate and enjoy each class fully. I focus on specific and appropriate alignment and emphasise the importance of self compassion and self acceptance. All participants are guided to develop a deeper awareness and understanding of a fully embodied experience with awareness of changing physical limitations and energy levels.
I am passionate about yoga philosophy - in particular the ancient mythical stories, metaphors, imagery and symbolism of the Hindu pantheon. I dedicate a specific class to this passion and select a specific God or Goddess each month to delve into. When we evoke the archetypal characteristics and qualities of the devas and devis, they invite us to gaze deeper into our own nature - with a fresh sense of imagination and curiosity. The essence of each deity is brought to life and explored through storytelling, pranayama, asana, mudra, mantra and Kundalini kriyas. Integrating these elements of yoga vivifies the overall experience and enhances the practice by creating a rich and esoterically stimulating experience.
My own personal yoga is reflected as much off the mat as on it. I witness this every day in my relationships with others and give thanks for the absolutely priceless tools I have discovered as well as the strength and peace yoga has allowed me to find and the transformations it has led me through. We swim through the fires to stay in the world!
I look forward to welcoming you to a class in Clevedon, Tickenham or Yatton very soon.
Namaste
