Namaste! I am a newly qualified teacher taking (baby) steps on the path of sharing my love and passion for yoga. I have completed a 200 hr Teacher Training course at the Himalaya Yoga Valley Centre in Goa, in May 2017. I am grateful to my teacher, Yogacharya Lalit, and the entire training team for setting me on this exciting, dual path of being a student and teacher of yoga.
I have first come across yogic philosophy as a teenager through my interest in the history and culture of the wonderful subcontinent of India. It wasn't until several years later that I found my way to my first Hatha yoga class and experienced the teachings first hand. Since then, yoga has been my constant companion and a vehicle for finding stillness, strength and joy amidst the hectic pace and chaos of modern life.
When not on the mat, I am working towards completing my PhD in neuroscience at UCL, London. Being both a scientist and a society yogi I am particularly interested in the tangible effects that yoga asana practice and meditation have at a mental, emotional and physical level.
If yoga is the science of self-inquiry, then mat is your laboratory. In my classes I put emphasis on proper alignment, conscious breath and cultivating the stillness of mind. I encourage my students to observe the patterns of behaviors that manifest during their practice and work on evolving them in their daily lives.
