Overview

Having explored various styles of yoga since 2002 – Ashtanga and Mysore,Bikram,  Dharma Mittra, Jivamukti, Vinyasa Flow, Forrest and Iyengar- and been inspired by some excellent teachers, I decided to qualify as a Hatha yoga teacher in the summer of 2014. From these diverse influences I have devised an eclectic personal practice which is reflected in my classes. Yoga has given me the strength and flexibility to combat the fragility of osteoporosis, diagnosed in 2009, whilst also enhancing my mental, physical and spiritual awareness. It has infused me with a particular peaceful passion and given me courage to venture beyond self-expectations, on and off the mat. Teaching is away of imparting this knowledge and sharing this experience.

Class sequencing progresses intelligently: combining mindful flow and transitions with static asanas at a pace that allows the student to experience being in the posture whilst becoming aware of the alignment, breathing, strength and flexibility involved. Given that 'yoga' means 'union', my aim is to assist students in uniting body, mind and spirit: blending stillness with lightness of being. Classes can be adapted to the level and physical capabilities of the individuals concerned and support is available in Spanish and French if required. As a freelance language tutor and translator, in addition to a meticulous and patient approach, I have good communication skills and an intuitive understanding of the learning process - attributes which I also apply to teaching yoga.
