My first yoga lesson was back in April 2007. Since then, my passion for yoga has allowed me to continue to explore and practice yoga regularly.
An opportunity arose for me to attend a traditional Hatha Yoga teacher training course with Shiva Shakti Yoga in India. Learning yoga where it all started was the most amazing experience . I’m always keen to learn and want to share what I've learnt. Yoga is not a job, it is my choice of lifestyle! I will continue to develop myself so I can grow not only as a yoga teacher, but as a student too. Using all that I've learnt, my intention is for all students to leave class feeling revitalised so they can find a balance in their lives.
Classes are taught with an emphasis on breath and alignment in a non-competitive environment. Hatha and vinyasa are combined, with gentle or dynamic asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing techniques); variation asanas are included to suit the individual and alignments are checked. I encourage students to ‘let go’ of their thoughts and be present, once the class commences. A guided meditation is also part of the practice, bringing balance into the mind and body. Part of the meditation includes a blissful sound bath, using a Himalayan singing bowl to invite tranquility, wholeness and peace within oneself, creating the ultimate relaxation experience.
Other areas of training include Yin and restorative yoga. Previous experience teaching the visually impaired.
