Overview

With over 15 years experience working in the international events industry (music, comedy, corporate) Sytske gained an interest in yoga, initially to relax and keep fit. Since discovering Anahata Yoga in Thailand in 2013 Sytske has completed several Anahata courses including a 200hr teacher training in the summer of 2016 and also gained a qualification to teach the 5-Element Form and the YogaBeez Foundation Children Yoga Teacher Training whilst studying to complete the 300 hr Anahata Teacher Training Immersions in 2019. Originally from the Netherlands Sytske is now living and working in London with her partner, his daughter (on weekends) and their rescue cat Jack.

Anahata Yoga speaks to me because it encompasses all aspects of life. Anahata, the heart chakra, represents learning to love yourself, being compassionate about the things you want to change.

That sounds a bit scary, but actually makes life a bit easier, more fun even. Though I take yoga and health seriously I encourage people to laugh during my classes. It is not about how good your Asana poses look, it is about how you feel, what is right for you.

Every person is different, every yoga session is different. Together we find what is most beneficial each time. This can be relaxation in time of stress, powerful movements in times of frustration, nurturing when you just need to take it easy.

My classes include breathing (Pranayama), physical (Asana) and relaxation exercises (Nidra) according to the school of Anahata Yoga, playing with the 5 Element Form. No previous yoga experience is required, however we can mix in movements or exercises you already practice or want to practice more regularly.

Getting feedback from my students how they feel better when practising yoga, sleep better and want to learn more about Anahata yoga, are curious to explore with me what works for them, is so rewarding. I learn from my students as well as they learn from me.

I only recently discovered how much I love teaching, working with people to find their way of being a yogi.

I am looking to integrate Anahata yoga in daily life and work, specifically but not limited to the events and entertainment industry. This high pressure, "show must go" on environment could really benefit from a focus on wellbeing. I would like to help provide this, support those who need this.

Having many children in my life I have most recently started exploring childrens yoga and am very happy to now be qualified to officially teach yoga and mindfullness to children after training with YogaBeez.
