More About Karen Holland

After around 13 years of poking yoga with a stick and not taking it seriously my Mum invited me to her yoga class. I lowered the average age by about 20 years but was so in awe of all the women in the class (the 'Grandma' being 80). I could only dream of practising their moves.  But more than the physical fitness of these ladies, I noticed their comraderie, positive outlooks, freedom of self, joy and the transition into a 'youthful' older life. Another 8 or so years later and I finally trained and qualified as a yoga teacher in Rishikesh, India in 2015. 

I currently teach Hatha Yoga specialising with beginner classes and bringing people back to the essentials of yoga, Yin yoga and men only classes.  I am working on arranging a network of free yoga classes in communities local to me.

I love all aspects of yoga and am driven to smashing old fashioned perceptions about yoga by showing and teaching people how yoga works in everyday life, not just on the mat. And how it is truly for everyone and doesn't discriminate. That is where my passion truly lies.  

From being able to hit another level of fitness in regular sporting activities all the way through to simply not feeling any aches or pains when we get up the morning. I'm driven to connecting people who wouldn't give yoga a second thought and enabling them to feel the physical and mental benefits of yoga from the very first class.

My classes are friendly, relaxed, fun and varied.  Students are encouraged to practice with curiosity and enquiry. The focus on body sensations rather than achieving the perfect pose. I recognise all bodies are different, they move differently, on different days and by acknowledging this I can help my students to get the most from their yoga experience by simply activating movement through the roots of yoga breath and the focused mind.
