Overview

I was a teacher of French, Spanish, and Sociology for over ten years, but in 2018 I suffered a mental health breakdown and had to leave my job. I'd started practising yoga fairly regularly in about 2012 or 2013, but the enforced absence from work combined with a beautiful 'karma cleaning' exchange of cleaning for yoga at my local studio meant I could practise three or more times a week, which I'd never been able to do before. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I think yoga was the biggest factor in my recovery from depression and anxiety.

In April 2019 I joined Bristol School of Yoga's 200-hour Ashtanga and Yin teacher training course, led by Melanie Cooper with Rachel Lindars and Stu Girling; I qualified in October 2019 and started my first class- the Sunday class in Frampton on Severn- early in 2020. Just in time for lockdowns!! I started classes up again when we were allowed to, in May 2021, and have been teaching yoga since then. It's my dream life. I'm now training to be a yoga therapist with the Minded Institute, and am due to qualify in early 2025.

All my adult life I’ve been driven to teach through the love of my subjects and the desire to share them. I want this practice, this way of life, to be available to all because I love it so, and because I find it so beneficial myself. So if you think you're 'not thin enough', 'not bendy enough', 'not fit enough', or anything else to do yoga, please try one of my classes and see if I can't change your mind! Having experienced first-hand the mental and physical benefits of a regular yoga practice, my hope is to introduce yoga and its benefits to people who don't see themselves as 'yoga people', as well as offering a practice that's both accessible to beginners, and challenging to those with more experience.

At home, I'm mum to a daughter and a dog, stepmum to another dog, and  to a gorgeous tree surgeon, and we live on a boat in rural Gloucestershire. I love to cook, read, paint, and spend time with friends or in nature.

Cerian’s weekly yoga classes are a real highlight of my week. She is so warm and personable and always plans different flows. She’s very comfortable answering questions and will always offer multiple variations without ever drawing attention to individuals. Cerian cultivates a very safe, supportive and judgement-free atmosphere.

Lovely friendly class with variations suggested to help different people enjoy their practice together. I always come out of the class feeding better than I went it.

The first yoga teacher to keep my attention and keep me coming back for more every week - Cerian reads the mood of the group and teaches to meet our individual needs. Great teacher!
