Overview

Laura Gilmore has more than 20 years practice experience to draw upon, and has been teaching since 1990. Her practice and teaching include in depth studies in Hatha yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Meditation and the subtle energetic work of Tantra. These experiences enable Laura to offer fresh, creative sequencing with a strong focus on alignment and creating space in the body.

Laura teaches with an intuitive understanding of the needs of all her students, and combines asana, pranyama and meditation practices that enable you to see with more clarity, and become more at ease and confident in yourself. She shares a deep knowledge of asana interwoven with the deeper wisdom of yoga, and teaches with warmth and humour.

"I love to share how our current understanding of body and mind ties in with yoga wisdom. Recent research validates a creative approach to asana, showing how diverse movement leads to physical and mental health. I share a broad approach to yoga, weaving the philosophy through the practice of asana, pranayama & meditation.

My teaching is infused with warmth & humour. I share this work in a trauma sensitive way and to love to include anyone on this path that can seem so hard to navigate.

The traditions that have shaped my practice vary from Iyengar & Ashtanga to Zen & Tantra. I have studied yoga history & philosophy along the way. I love the practice of somatic movement. I have trained to teach yoga for Trauma and for Anxiety. My more recent teachers include Tias Little (yoga, somatics, mediation), Anodea Judith (chakras) & Jules Mitchell (biomechanics & evidence based). But I owe a debt of gratitude that dates back some 30 years of study and practice with many wonderful teachers. Thankyou.

I would be so deeply honoured to share my understanding of yoga with you."

Laura Gilmore is the most amazing yoga teacher I have met in 20 years of practising. I can't even begin to explain the depth of knowledge that she seamlessly integrates into her training. I have never met anyone who understands and embodies yoga like Laura. The four day Pranayama teacher training was a beautiful, life affirming experience and one that I will be eternally grateful for. The ease of her practice and how totally grounded and self centred I feel is what remains with me. No struggle, no strain and no ego - just divine grace but very much on this earthly plane. Laura strikes the balance beautifully between profundity and humour. If you want to experience the true meaning of yoga this is the teacher for you. Thank you. x

Just completed my 300 hour Advanced Teacher Training with Laura Gilmore at Bristol School of Yoga. The course has been academically intense - fully supported & backed up with scientific evidence. I’ve learnt intricate details of human physiology, anatomy & neurology. I’ve been left in awe of the early yogis and their philosophy. I’ve learnt how to manage a class for students who experience anxiety or for students who want to achieve advanced postures. Each module has left me with a wealth of knowledge that I have loved sharing with my own students. Laura teaches in a relaxed, informative and friendly style. Her wealth of knowledge after years of research is inspirational. She is patient and encouraging in every way whether it is achieving a yoga asana or advising on business models. I will continue to seek her wisdom and guidance throughout my yoga teaching career and look forward to further study at her beautiful studio.

I have completed my 200 hour teacher training, and am currently mid way through the modular 300 hour training with Laura Gilmore. She teaches with humour and humility with a deep knowledge and extensive experience of yoga and its varied practices, history, philosophy, its evolution and contemporary scientific research and ideas. Her courses are packed with theory as well as practical application of the topics. There is plenty of time for group discussions where we can share ideas and knowledge. These parts of the day are so interesting and always provide so much food for thought. I love that there is an option to attend online as well as in studio. I have experienced both. I love being in studio but you are made to feel so included and valued as an online student too. I always come away from these courses feeling like a slightly different person in a very positive way! Fully recommend!
