Overview

I have practised Yoga for about 25 years and taught it since 2002, I believe Yoga isn't just something you do on your mat with a teacher but a lifestyle, a whole way of living and thinking.  I encourage my students to do a little bit of Yoga everyday! Whether that is 15 minutes of asana practice or Yoga breathing in bed before sleep; mindfulness practices around emotional wellbeing during a busy day at work or my Yoga- at- your- desk- programme for office bound Yogis.  In my classes I emphasise the importance of relaxation and breathing in every moment! And am very keen on encouraging students to be aware of sensations in their bodies as they move and hold postures. Correct alignment in postures is important to me and I enjoy teaching fluid movement synchronised with the breath.

I have worked with many different methods of Hatha Yoga and tend to integrate techniques from different styles to provide for the specific needs of an individual or group. I also teach Yoga one to one or in small groups for therapeutic purposes and am convinced of its nurturing and healing powers. My major influencers are Swami Vishnudevananda (1927-1993) the founder of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, Judith Hanson Lasater with whom I trained in Restorative Yoga and Experiential Anatomy and Donna Farhi who I completed an Advanced Yoga studies teaching course with and have continued to study with her since 2006. I attend regular teaching intensives with world-class teachers as part of my commitment to continued professional development.

I am fully insured and in terms of qualifications, am a British Wheel of Yoga Diploma teacher and Foundation Course Tutor, a Sivananda Yoga 200 hour teacher and have completed Yoga Therapy teacher training with The Yoga Bio Medical Trust and Yogacampus. I have further qualifications to teach Pre and Postnatal Yoga, this training is with Birthlight with Dr. Francoise Freedman and I have also worked with Dr Gowri Motha (Gentle Birth Method) and  have completed further qualifications to work with birthing mothers. I trained with Shakta Kaur Khalsa (senior Kundalini Yoga teacher) and completed both Level 1 and 2 of the Radiant Child Programme and with Swami Saradananda to qualify as a teacher of Meditation. I am also registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals as a Senior Yoga Teacher "SYT" (meaning I have completed over 4,000 hours of teaching Yoga) and as Course Director for the Yoga-Yoga Teacher Training.

Yoga Yoga Teacher Training Course 2016-2017

I can thoroughly recommend Louise's course. The course is very well planned and organised. The content is comprehensive and provides trainees with a real breadth and depth of knowledge, during this well paced course, which is spread across a year and a half in monthly weekend workshops. As a trainee you are supported, challenged and nourished by brilliant teachers. Class sizes are small encouraging friendships and support from peers. Upon graduation I feel equipped with the knowledge and professionalism required to share an authentic and safe practice of yoga.

245 hours Teachers Training Course 2017

A thoroughly enjoyable course spanning 15 months which enabled me to profoundly deepen my yoga practice and emerge as a confident Teacher of Hatha Yoga. Louise delivered the course with organised thoroughness and clarity, in a way that embedded large amounts of information, techniques and was above all interesting and fun.
