Master the art of hands on teaching

 Sunday 15th October – 10.30am – 5.30pm

This day long CPD workshop is for yoga teachers and student teachers in training, or those interested in how energy is cultivated, exchanged and communicated through sensitivity, intuition and touch. We will explore the fundamental concepts of why, when, and how to apply hands-on adjustments for yoga poses. You will deepen your basic knowledge of the postures as well as learn how to skillfully, intuitively and confidently give hands on adjustments in order to help move stagnant energy, as well as to encourage your students to listen inwardly and tune in to their own body so that they evolve their practice in a more energetic way.

As yoga teachers we have a variety of tools available to guide our students into their experience of yoga. From our own presence, attentiveness and energy, to our verbal instructions, to demonstrating the pose, to our use of metaphor and story–telling. Then there is the hands-on approach which is referred to as an ‘adjustment or ‘assist’. Adjustments and assists can be a powerful tool for yoga teachers when used with sensitivity. Hands-on adjustments can be a wonderful component to add to your classes and can really benefit students with misalignment’s to re-train certain patterns of being and correct mis-alignments.

Participants will be encouraged to develop the ability to observe and perceive the language of energy and movement, which will help them to discern when and where adjustments might be appropriate and beneficial. For example, we will look to see where free movement in an asana already exists and an adjustment may not be required, and where there is disruption or a block in energetic flow that might be shifted through the assistance of touch.

At this workshop, you will develop a deeper understanding of the energetic’s of touch and how to intuitively listen with the hands, thus using them as clear and compassionate communicators that will enhance and assist prana to move like water through the body.
