Overview

How Anna discovered yoga

Anna has been practicing yoga for over 10 years beginning in London where she discovered Bikram Yoga, a sequence that is renowned for helping bad backs and knees. Anna suffered from back and knee problems that were caused by a near fatal bike accident when she was 14, sporting injuries and bad posture, which caused her body to become pretty imbalanced! Amazed by the effect that Yoga had at managing back pain and stress she was intrigued by this world of yoga and wanted to learn more about it.

Anna's Style

Anna is currently exploring the Yin and Yang of yoga and how we find balance in life by making sure we ask our self ‘What do I need?’ She has a set Hatha, all over body work out sequence that she uses, half the sequence is standing and half is seated.  She actively moves the body from tip to toe in her classes to build strength, flexibility and concentration. Anna also incorporate Yin postures into the practice to teach the importance of staying still and listening to your needs. The benefits of a set sequence are that you get to observe your progression week by week as you start to build new muscle memory, creating confidence and knowledge of your body. She says 'I am a great believer of strong foundations then we build on this, there is no rush!'

Her teacher training has taught her there is so much more to yoga than just the physical asana practice. It is a journey of self-discovery, a journey where you find the tools to deal with life, a journey where you learn to be kind and live in the world rather than hide, fight or run from it. To begin with though just come to the mat breathe, move, smile and repeat. She believes 'If you continue to explore life has a way of organically happening in the right way.'
