All applicants must pay a one off non-refundable application fee, before an application will be considered.

Once this fee has been received we will arrange a call with you to finalise your application. Please note if you have applied with a certificate from a Trainer not currently registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals then we will have to verify that your teacher training course meets our standards before we can proceed with your application. We will contact your trainer firstly by telephone and if there is no answer, we will send them up to two emails over a 7 day period to ensure that they meet our standards.

In the unlikely event that we do not hear back from your trainer within 7 days, we will be forced to cancel your application and you will lose the sign up fee. If your training, does NOT meet our standards then we will also be forced to cancel your application, without a refund of the sign up fee. Please ensure that you are aware of our training course standards before finalising your application, a copy of these can be found http://www.yogaallianceprofessionals.org/teacher-criteria

Once we have completed the sign up telephone call with you, you will have 7 days to upload your membership logo, membership certificate on to your website and social media and update your profile on the Yoga Alliance Professionals website. It is your responsibility to ensure before completing the application that you have access to the back end of your website to upload this information.

Please note, if you do not have a yoga related website or yoga related social media accounts there is no requirement to add the logo or membership certificate on to anything.

As soon as we receive notification that your website and profile have been updated we will activate your membership; your profile will be made live and if applicable we will activate and issue your insurance documents. We aim to do this within 2 working days.

4.2 Your Profile

This must be 100% completed before your membership will be activated and live on our website. You are required to complete a short biography on this profile, detailing where you completed your teacher training, the style of yoga you teach and any other interesting information which is relevant. The profile is your opportunity to advertise your yoga teaching and is visible to members of the public. It is expected that you regularly update your profile.

4.3 Membership Dates and Insurance

Membership and insurance will run in line and will be on auto-renewal every year thereafter. Your membership expiry date will end one day before the date you paid, the following year. For example, if you pay to join Yoga Alliance Professionals on 23rd January 2017, your renewal payment will be charged 22nd January 2018.

After these 14 days, we have a strict NO REFUND policy under any circumstances. You may request to cancel your membership at any time, and if you do your profile and any related website content will be removed. If you have a corporate insurance policy this will also be cancelled.

In the event, you have falsified any part of your application and/or fail to follow the criteria laid out in these terms and conditions, Yoga Alliance Professionals reserve the right to cancel your membership with no refund.

If your application is cancelled for any reason due to an error on your side, Yoga Alliance Professionals reserve the right to ask you to make a new application with no refund on the previous application.

Monthly Payments

If you chose to pay for your Studio membership fees by month, then please be aware that you have entered into an annual contract and a missed payment will still require to be paid. In the event a payment fails, we will request that the remaining annual fees are paid within 7 days of the failed payment date. We will seek to claim back any unpaid fees and associated costs in a court of law if these continue to remain unpaid after 7 days.

Renewals

We will recheck that you continue to fulfil the criteria set out in point 7.12. Additionally, upon renewal you are required to:

    - Update your profile page with current information;
    - List any course dates for the coming year and pay the Accreditation Fee for each course if applicable;
    - Ensure teachers in the studio continue to be a member of YAP

We will aim to get in touch with you in the month before your renewal is due to discuss this and check you are happy to renew. Provided you continue to fulfil our criteria we will arrange your renewal payment. Once the payment is received we will change your membership dates for the following year.

If you do not make the renewal payment before or on the expiry date, we will suspend your membership for a period of 7 days. During this time you will be able to access your profile on our website and can still make a renewal payment. If your membership is renewed within this 7 day window then we will be able to start your new membership from the original expiry date, provided you meet the renewal criteria detailed above. Please be aware, if you renew after this 7 day period then your profile and any events, retreats and blogs will be removed from our website and you will need to reapply as a new member. You will then be subject to the current new business prices, which includes the one-off sign up fee.

8.  Career Breaks

8.1 Teachers

We can offer career breaks for a one-off payment of £25 if you need to take a break from your membership, for example for pregnancy, sickness or due to a change in circumstances.  This is charged at £25 for an unlimited period and when you come back this money will be deducted from the current renewal fee. We will contact you each year to see what you are planning to do. Please note career break payments are non-refundable. If you wish to return from a career break you can do so at any time, please contact the office to set up your membership.

8.2 Trainers

There is no career break option for Trainer memberships.

Should a Trainer not be running any event dates in any given year, they have the option to continue their membership without setting course dates and advertise their course(s) for the next year. If the Trainer does not offer any courses in the subsequent year, the membership will be cancelled and the Trainer will need to re-apply on resumption of training.

9. Change to Details/Circumstances

If you change your contact or credit card details throughout the year, this can be changed by updating your details on your profile. It is your responsibility to inform us of any changes to your personal details.

9.1 Name Change

If you change your name, then please send in evidence of this and we will amend your account and reissue the insurance and membership documents in your new name.  Please note that there is an administration fee to do this.

9.2 Telephone Number

Please ensure we have a valid telephone number for you at all times, as we may need to contact you to discuss your membership. Members with Yoga Alliance Professionals insurance must provide us with a postal address and telephone number. If we are unable to contact you then your insurance may be invalidated.

10. Upgrades to Membership Level, Insurance or Additional Accreditation

10.1 Membership Level

We can upgrade your membership level at any time during the year if you think you have achieved the next level. This can be done by contacting our office. There is a one-off (non-refundable) fee to upgrade and this is subject to our checks to ensure you meet the standards for the next level. If you do not meet these standards, you will remain on your current level and can apply to upgrade again in the future.

New Graduates

You can only be considered for an upgrade two years after your graduation date. You will need to have been teaching for these two years and have completed 1000 teaching hours. Please note, 30% of the 1000 hours (300 hours) can come from further training.

Existing Members

Existing members will only be eligible to upgrade their level every two years. This will be taken either from the date you joined Yoga Alliance Professionals or from your last upgrade date. You will need to have been teaching for these two years and be able to demonstrate that you have been teaching for 1000 hours. Please note, 30% of the 1000 hours (300 hours) can come from further training.

All members who wish to upgrade their membership level must complete a Statement of Fact form and pay the upgrade fee before we will look at their upgrade.
