Workshop Day Retreat. Summer Solstice – 17 June 2023

The summer solstice is the longest day of the year, in the Northern Hemisphere. It has been celebrated by many cultures throughout history as a time of abundance, growth, and vitality. In the yogic tradition, the summer solstice is also an important time for spiritual practice and self-reflection empowerment.

In addition to this global event, many yoga practitioners choose to observe the summer solstice in their personal practice. This can take the form of outdoor yoga classes, meditation and reflective journaling during the longest day of the year.

At this second seasonal day retreat we will explore specific yoga practices traditionally associated with the summer solstice. For example, we will explore the practice of Surya Namaskar, or Sun Salutations, on our south facing external terrace, which is often performed to honour the sun’s energy and vitality during this time of year. There will also be deep yogic visualization practices (kriyas), meditation and breathing practices (pranayama) focused on nurturing and directing universal energies.

Join us at Ananda Barn and rediscover how your link to the summer solstice is a deep and meaningful one, reflecting the interconnectedness of the natural world and our inner lives and purpose – there are just five places…!
