Overview

Christian’s background is in Martial Arts, namely in Shotokan Karate which he has been practicing for over 20 years. He also enjoys running and outdoor activities in addition to Yoga. Professionally he is a qualified and experienced Primary School Teacher. 

Christian recently completed his 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Yogacharya Lalit Kumar and the amazing team at Himalaya Yoga Valley during the Summer of 2020. In addition to this, he undertook an elective 10-day immersion with Himalaya Yoga Valley focusing on correct alignment, modifications and physical adjustments for different body types. His teaching style blends traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Iyengar alignment techniques.

Christian genuinely believes that Yoga is a wonderful, complete holistic practice with great therapeutic benefits which can be enjoyed by all, people of all ages, all fitness levels and at all stages of life, irrespective of age, body type, flexibility or shape! Many people mistakenly believe that you need to be flexible to take a Yoga class but Christian believes this is not the case – a good teacher will always have a range of props and modifications available to ensure that each posture is accessible to all. While your flexibility and strength (as well as your inner peace) will all increase with regular practice neither are a prerequisite to begin. 

Christian believes that Yoga is a wonderful form of exercise on its own, but he also believes that it is a wonderful complementary practice to most other forms of exercise which greatly helps with injury prevention and with rehabilitating existing injuries. He understands that it can be very intimidating to start practicing Yoga and always tries to cultivate a friendly and non-competitive atmosphere in his classes where everyone feels respected and where everyone’s individuality is cherished.

His classes range from those for complete beginners, to Gentle Glow, to Restorative, through to more dynamic and challenging classes. All Christian’s classes emphasise linking movement with breath, being kind to and patient with yourself, and simply enjoying the journey. His classes are fun, with just the right level of challenge and are always tailored to the individual needs of the group he is teaching.
