On a trip to India back in 1998, whilst on a boat sailing down the Ganges, Melissa noticed men dotted all along the river’s edge doing some particularly interesting moves on a piece of carpet. Another passenger informed her that it was “Yoga” that they were practicing. So upon returning to San Francisco where she lived at the time she signed herself up for her very first yoga class and then in 2002 took her first yoga teacher training in Los Angeles.
Melissa has had quite the colourful yoga journey. Qualifications include: Bikram Yoga; a 250 hour Foundation; a 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training at The Elbowroom; Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training with Robin Sale in Santa Cruz, California; Yoga for Pregnancy at The elbowroom, Postnatal Yoga at The elbowroom, Postnatal and Womb Yoga Training with Uma Dinsmore Tuli; Childrens Yoga with Yoga Therapy Ireland and a second certificate from The elbowroom; Yin Yoga level I & II with Josh Summers; and Pilates Mat I & II with Susan Church, Fertility Yoga Teacher Training with Sue Dumas, and is currently taking part in world renowned, Amy Ipolitti’s, 300hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Next Door in Dublin.
Melissa’s has over 18 years experience as a yoga teacher and is support teacher at Ireland’s most comprehensive and highly regarded Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training at The elbowroom, Dublin, that has seen women come from all over the country and from Europe to attend. She also support teaches on the ‘Mum & Baby Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training,’ the ‘Wise Woman Training’ and the ‘Children’s Yoga Teacher Training’ at The elbowroom.
Melissa's passion has always been pregnancy, birth and babies, has 3 children herself, runs very successful birth preparation classes and now has over 17yrs experience supporting women through yoga. Melissa currently teaches, Vinyasa Yoga, Pilates, Yin Yoga, Pregnancy Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Mother & Baby Yoga, Women's Health Yoga, Baby Massage, Nursing Home Yoga and runs yoga retreats throughout the year at stunning locations in Ireland.
