I have been practising yoga on a regular basis for over 20 years.
I successfully completed a two year training programme at the Saraswati Yoga Studio, Sutton, in 2012, thereby qualifying me to teach Hatha Yoga, meditation, ante and post-natal yoga and yoga to children & teenagers.
Throughout my teaching career, I have continually run the weekly children and teenagers yoga classes at the Saraswati Yoga Studio.
I have also launched gently-paced yoga courses at the Saraswati Yoga Studio which are ideal for children, teenagers & young adults who may require the support of their accompanying parent/carer to help them participate in a group yoga class. These courses are typically attended by students with SEN.
I also teach yoga in local specialist and mainstream schools (both to students and staff) and teach children and adults on a 1:1 basis in their homes.
With regular practice, yoga can help to
- improve spatial awareness, motor skills, sensory and vestibular processing
- reduce hyperactivity and anger
- develop concentration and emotional well-being
Yoga can also ease allergies such as asthma and is good for all round general health.
I am regularly told by students and their parents/carers how supportive yoga is in helping the students; for example, to better manage their emotions, to deal with change/transition, to focus on their studies and also to relax and improve sleeping habits.
