Optional Day and half day trips to sacred sites in the Himalaya.

We have organised some very special trips that we feel are very auspicious. Each are costed separately below, and we would need to confirm numbers by final payment in January 2019, so you have until then to decide, book and pay.

Trip 1 – Full day with early start. Sunrise over the Himalaya from Kunjapuri Temple

Kunjapuri Devi Temple is a sacred temple and one of the 52 Shakti Peeths. It is believed Kunjapuri is the spot where the chest of Sati had fallen. Situated on the top of the hills, the temple can only be reached by climbing 80 steep steps. The view from the top is simply breathtaking and offers a panoramic scene of the Himalayan peaks to the North and Rishikesh, Haridwar and the Doon valley to the South. After our time at Kunjapuri we journey to a wonderful plateau above a typical Himalayan Hill Village. There will be the option to trek there or be driven a shorter walk away from the plateau where we will guide you in yoga and meditation. We will have time to soak in the view and peace and eat our packed lunch here before heading back to the hotel for early afternoon.

The cost for this trip is £40 per person and includes airconditioned transport, a local guide, packed lunch and plenty of water.

Trip 2 – Half day Morning trip to Vishishta’s Cave on the Ganges

Leaving the hotel shortly after breakfast we will be driven by air-conditioned mini bus to the banks of holy river Ganga, away from the crowds of Rishikesh town. where there is a very peaceful place known as Vashishta Gufa (Cave). Located about 25 km away from Rishikesh, it is popular among visitors for deep meditation. It is One Of The Primeval Caves where the greatly revered Vedic sage Vashishta meditated. The cave has an ancient ‘Shivalinga’ (phallic form of Shiva) and is taken care of by the neighbouring Purshottamanand Ashram. The ashram and the cave are surrounded by beautiful Gular trees. After our cave visit we will offer you a meditation by the stunning river Ganges and some time to contemplate or indeed, if you wish, take a dip in the refreshing sacred waters here. After which we will drive back to the hotel in time for lunch.

The cost for this trip is £20 per person and includes air conditioned transport and plenty of water.

Trip 3 – Full day trip to Devprayag. In Sanskrit, prayag means ‘confluence’ and Devprayag stands for ‘holy confluence’. Devprayag is the confluence of two holy rivers. According to religious scriptures, Devprayag is one of the five important holy confluences. Rivers like Bhagirathi, Alaknanda & the mythological river Saraswati (flowing underground) meet to from the River Ganga. Religiously, the site is very sacred and holds immense significance among Hindu followers. It is believed that Lord Rama and the King Dushratha did penance here. There is an ancient temple of Raghunathji built above the confluence with massive rocks. It is believed that the temple was built more than ten thousand years ago. Devprayag is also hugely blessed with divine natural beauty and showers tourists with its serenity.

The cost for this trip is £40 per person and includes a local Guide, airconditioned transport, packed lunch and plenty of water.
