The Pureteacher 200hrs. Foundation Teacher Training offers a comprehensive Hatha Yoga teacher training in Dutch. It is about learning to construct and teach yoga classes. During the thirty-nine day course participants develop the knowledge and skills to teach directly -with confidence. Participants will learn to create an environment where you can guide students in a safe and responsible manner with full attention on their yoga path.

Learning to teach to others starts with practicing correctly. Major focus of training is teaching a 'beginner's mind': any yoga practice offers a new beginning. Participants will be trained to teach students who just have started as well as students who can use more detailed instruction. To guide mixed groups like this it is key to be able to give everybody the proper attention.

The first module focusses on the basics of Asana practice and Yoga Anatomy. Kinesiology and physiology is also addressed. Participants learn how to practice different Asana responsibly and safe. They learn where and how to watch students to determine which correction they need to apply. This module addresses also basic Vedic Philosophy, some Ayurveda and basic teaching skills like basic posture and use of voice.

During the second module are various styles of Yoga addressed: Classical Hatha Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga. Participants will learn the main principles of these forms of yoga practice and apply this knowledge in a yoga class. Addressed are in short:

*     Yoga postures (Asanas)

*     Warm-up exercises

*     Breathing exercises (pranayama)

*     Concentration exercises (meditation and mindfulness)

*     Relaxation exercises

In the third part of the YTT Participants deepen their knowledge and skills of Pranayama/breathing techniques, Meditation, adjustment and how to introduce the Vedic Philosophy in their classes.

After completing the course, participants are immediately able to teach and instruct yoga autonomously. The didactical structure of the program gives them plenty of experience with teaching Yoga. Each class, starting with the first, participants will learn teaching by practicing teaching. Participants learn to instruct Asanas, assist with the execution, and adjust towards the correct position with the desired alignment. Also is a learning objective to learn to apply theoretical knowledge in the teaching. Addressed are:

*     Vedic (yoga) philosophy and the Sûtras of Patañjali

*     Complete backgrounds of asanas, pranayama and meditation

*     Anatomy, physiology and kinesiology specifically aimed at the practice of Asanas. Participants learn the proper alignment, the main benefits of the asanas, indications, contraindications, adjustments and use of supporting devices/ props

*     Therapeutic effect of yoga

*     Didactics aimed at teaching group classes

During this YTT participants will learn the principles of adjustment/ adaptations for various types of Asanas. These can be applied on physical complaints and limitations with which some students come to yoga class. Also, to prevent injuries participants learn to apply adjustments and supporting devices/props. They also learn to superficially evaluate students' limitations. Also to provide instruction regarding a gradual increase of the intensity of the practice. And by observing the execution determining the limits of the exercise of an individual student, and indicate what limits should not be exceeded.
