Overview

Clio Maguire trained as a Nutritional Therapist at the highly prestigious College of Naturopathic Nutrition where she gained a Diploma of Naturopathic Nutrition registered with ANP.

She is a certified YTT200 Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and currently training as Pre and Post Natal Yoga Teacher with YogaKidz Worldwide.

Passionate about health, feeling balanced, well and happy is what drives her. Knowing the difference between how the mind and body feel on an imbalanced or non-food diet to whole foods and the impact they have on productivity, mental clarity, dis-ease, spiritual health, mood and emotional well-being.

Growing up with a coeliac mother Clio was exposed to the dangers of certain foods to some people, thus began a household routine checking of food ingredients for gluten. Naturally, she became more conscious of her own eating habits and what she put in her body. As a result Clio became much more aware of food as medicine or poison.

As a teenager Clio was first introduced to yoga by her mother to support health problems. In 2006 she sought out yoga as a means of balancing a stressful job and discovered something she knew had been missing. Attending classes with Anita Arnold in Birmingham she began to open her inflexible body, build strength and stamina and find a peace she was unaware was possible.

She continued to practice while travelling in 2008 before settling in Ha Noi, Viet Nam where she found classes to attend and further her practice.

In 2010 Clio completed her Yoga Teacher Training at Zenith Yoga, Viet Nam with Dominique Renucci. In line with yoga traditions, Clio chose to spend the month training as a vegetarian, this suited her and she continued to eat vegetarian yet reintroduced fish into her diet. A large part of the training included nutrition study, eating clean balanced food for optimum health and spiritual growth; ‘saucha’. Learning about Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic traditions and nutrition fascinated her leading her to spend a year in India and Nepal learning more about these ancient traditions. Here, she practised a variety of yoga styles; Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Hot Yoga, Sivananda (BSY), Astanga, Kundalini and Kriya. While in India Clio worked as off-season Manager at the Namaste Yoga Farm in Gokarna and taught classes.

Returning to Viet Nam Clio worked as Communications Manager at Zenith Yoga Viet Nam and taught classes under the guidance of Marzena Kierepka, the other yoga teachers at the studio and was able to benefit from sessions on a teacher training with Hart Lazer. The yoga influences over this year were mainly in Vinyasa and Iyengar styles. Discovering the benefits of Pilates, Clio studied to become a Pilates instructor in 2011 with Or-Yah Avni of The PilatesStudio in Bangkok.

After a five year personal growth journey in Asia she had been suffering with a chronic inflammatory back condition for two years and, reluctantly returned to the UK to recover. Events lead her to a spiritual evening of talks where she happened across the College of Naturopathic Medicine’s Naturopathic Nutrition Diploma flyer and knew it was the natural progression to the next chapter.

Five years on having birthed a healthy son, Clio is passionate about positive birthing. Pre and post natal yoga and nutrition drive her to support and empower mothers in blossoming into the motherly goddesses they can be.
