Overview

I first came to yoga a few years ago as part of a search not for enlightenment but from a desire to fInd a way to maintain a standard of physical wellbeing going in to the later part of my life.I have always tried to be active and as you get older competitive sport can be difficult to take part in as your goals by necessity are limited by the advance of time.Although through the practice of yoga improvements to the ability to achieve forward progress ,if that is how you wish to perceive it,are definitely available to the practitioner .As I became more attached to my practice I think I started to look at where I should perhaps take my yoga life to.In my case I wanted to delve deeper into the origins of these postures I took part in increasingly more often and also why in “normal” life I kept finding that yoga kept creeping in to influence how I might behave and perhaps my attitudes to the things happening around me.

With this in mind I cast around for resources to satisfy my curiosity and for some way to bring more yoga into my life. One of my early teachers in response to my statement that “Work seems to keep getting in the way of the yoga “ responded that “perhaps I should just concentrate on the yoga and not the work then”.I then started to think about perhaps taking a recognised teaching qualification as a means to deepen my knowledge and also to allow me to share with others the enthusiasm that had grown within .

As luck would have it my answer lay within a few miles in the shape of the Sandstone Academy led by Michelle Nicklin ably assisted by Dawn Wright and Ambra Vallo .I along with a group of like minded ,enthusiastic and supportive yogis spent the next few months broadening our knowledge, experience and minds with the eventual goal of becoming a Yoga Alliance Professional teacher which thankfully was achieved successfully.

During my years of yoga practice I have been pleasantly surprised how much it has crept into my consciousness and caused me to wish to share my pleasure with others through the process of teaching. My yoga practice has mainly focussed on hot vinyasa style but my training was in Hatha

The prospect of a yoga class can be a daunting one for a novice as the discipline can sometimes have a difficult image but I believe in delivering lessons that are lighthearted with sometimes a touch of humour to bring students a feeling of inclusivity .

Currently I am looking for venues to start my teaching offer so hopefully soon there will be a chance for pupils to experience my enthusiasm for this delightful practice of yoga but am available for one to one sessions .So watch this space for further news .
