Overview

My yoga journey began in a sweaty leisure centre because I wanted toned arms and abs! Little did I know that I would find an inspiring teacher who would go on to be a mentor on my own teacher training a couple of years later.  I completed my 500 Hr teaching training with the Devon School of Yoga and started teaching as soon as I could.  Soon, I discovered that yoga teaching was much more than a hobby and left my job as a senior oncology radiographer in the NHS to support and help people in a different way.

I'm a mum of two and a military wife so I understand how families work or not! I started offering kids and family classes to friends and realised that this was such a wonderful way to introduce future generations to yoga and the joys of caring for our minds and bodies, so I introduced regular children, teen and family sessions to my timetable.  I have also taught in primary school and preschool settings, as well as one off classes at local children's clubs.

I am fortunate enough to have my own little, cosy studio in my back garden in Exeter and teach there, now live and via zoom (radiotherapy was a doddle compared to the issues I had with that!).  I also love to teach outdoors and run several classes in local parks, one of which, I offer for free all year round as a community initiative. Having just completed training in Yoga for Cancer, I hope to incorporate my knowledge of oncology from my previous life with all that I know about yoga in order to offer support to patients and families with cancer in the local area.

If I'm not in yoga pants, you might spot me in a cossie down at the local beach or river, even in January.  I am a keen cold water wild swimmer, especially as our group always share cake afterwards!  My ethos for the way I teach yoga is the same, you have to have fun and experience pleasure from your practice and sometimes that means being a little silly and always that means not taking ourselves too seriously.
