Sharmila teaches small group classes, larger studio drop-in classes with a specialisation in yoga for women in Beverley, Yorkshire, and is available for personalised one-on-one sessions. Her classes blend Iyengar, Hatha, and Vinyasa styles of yoga to strengthen both body and mind and create a state of balance, harmony, a deep sense of calm and connectedness, and she seeks to tailor her classes for individuals of all fitness abilities and ages.

The scope of her training and bringing up has given her a strong knowledge of each stage of life, Ayurveda, nutrition, modification in anatomy and alignment, as well as a truly refined awareness of the subtleties upon which poses are built, and her love for yoga allows her to continue to learn and share her knowledge to help people heal and empower themselves.

  1. Teacher Training 2004 with Karin O'Bannon

I met Shamila in Rishikesh first in 2003 and we went to dozens of classes, workshops together in Rishikesh and Dharmasala. In 2004 we both enroled on an intensive Iyengar teacher training in Rishikesh by then senior yoga teacher Karin O'Bannon. We share the love and passon for the essence of yoga . Shamila is a beautiful person who knows tons and has plenty to share with current and future yogis. I recommend Shamila from my heart. Go to her classes and you will see! I can't wait to meet her again, since fate made us both move back to live in the UK.

    Restorative Yoga

I start her classes in a state of agitation but leave feeling feeling calm & tranquil. Sharmila focuses on good technique & is hands on when needed. She is encouraging & suits all levels of ability/ experience. The class can by hard work but it flies by & always ends a beneficial relaxation session.

    Yoga therapy with Sharmila

I tried different classes with different teachers in the last two years, but when I started to follow Sharmila classes I realized how great she is , knowledgeable and how effective her classes are. That’s why I asked her to mentor me. I never asked to nobody to be mentored by but felt I would love to since the first class with her. I personally feel a growth through the path of yoga with her, but without rush, from the true basic and meaning of yoga. It’s s natural growth for me learning with her but I also noticed the progress in other students working with Sharmila independing from age or conditions. I’ve learned more from her in her classes than ever.. Everything she teach make sense and it’s very helpful : from the breathing, to how you work through the poses, till savanna. Also her knowledge in ayurveda is accurate a she knows what she does. Her classes are never the same and every time I learn and progress. I think she is a humble person teacher with high potential.

    Weekly Tuesday Yoga Class

I cannot recommend these beautiful, considerate classes highly enough. Sharmila is a truly wonderful yoga teacher. Her yoga class has that rare and magical blend of being physically stimulating, peaceful and challenging enough to make you grow. As soon as you walk into her class you feel grounded. Her approach is unique as she works with you to support you with your particular needs and understands the fundamental importance of connecting with your breath and being present. I feel stronger, happier and more myself after attending her class. You couldn't ask for anything more!
