I am a reliable and committed, degree-educated individual, having left a career in logistics (in May 2018) to pursue my passion for teaching yoga on a full time basis.
I teach weekly classes at Sweat Studios in Milton Keynes and at Flitwick and Silsoe Leisure Centres. I also run my own weekly yoga classes at local village hall venues in Bedfordshire (Wixams, Westoning, Haynes and Houghton Conquest). I offer one to one sessions in my home yoga room and I host regular yoga retreats, both in the UK and abroad.
I like to make yoga accessible for all and get bodies moving! I'm not big on the spiritual side of yoga (although I am a veggie / aspiring vegan, like a good singing bowl and have been known to chant on occasion!) - we have fun in class, and make time for relaxation.
I'd tried yoga and pilates classes in the past but felt I wasn't really exercising if I didn't work up a sweat so I started running in my local park as a way to keep fit, then doing 10km runs across the country.
After a few years I'd had a couple of nasty falls and had developed 'crunchy knees' so needed to find a lower impact work out. My search led me to yoga and after my first class I also realised I had really tight hamstrings and very little flexibility, even though I felt quite 'fit'.
Hot yoga specifically combines my love for the heat and working up a sweat with strengthening and improving flexibility to give an all round work out. However, I now find I enjoy ambient (room) temperature yoga just as much - you can still build up a sweat!
Inspired by the inclusive, no nonsense, fitness-led approach at Sweat Studios in Milton Keynes, I regularly attended a mix of classes there for over 2 years before embarking on their inaugural teacher training course in March 2017, becoming a 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher in July 2017.
Since then I have taken CPDs in Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Vinyasa Yoga, continuing to expand my knowledge base with regular training to share with my clients.
