Overview

Donna trained with Sun Power Yoga in 2017 and came to yoga after numerous spinal surgeries beginning at the age of 15 for degenerative disc disease.  She was recommended to try yoga by her Consultant Spinal Surgeon and has seen an immense benefit in the quality of the health and strength of her spine alongside her wellbeing since practicing yoga. With metal rods and plates in her lumbar spine, she firmly believes that yoga is for every body! Her community classes are alignment lead, suitable for all levels with a leaning towards an embodied vinyasa krama style to build strength, flexibilty and aid balance in both mind, body and breath. Donna is a trauma informed yoga teacher and all of her offerings are taught from a trauma-informed approach.

Donna teaches community and corporate flow classes and private classes with a focus on core strength for spinal health and from an embodied perspective.

Donna has a special interest in how emotional trauma manifests itself in the physical body. She studied under Heather Mason at The Minded Institute in London in 2019 and is a qualified Yoga Therapist for PTSD.

Following University, she trained as a Lawyer and then moved into social justice. She now brings her knowledge and expertise together working with a trauma informed approach in yoga and yoga therapy. She has a particular interest in supporting female survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence to feel safe within their bodies once more. She developed the Solace Yoga Programme, a trauma informed yoga and wellness programme, specifically for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence which she has delivered for Women's Aid (donnanavarroyoga.com/solaceforsurvivors).

Donna also offers more specialised trauma informed yoga on a one to one and small group basis. She is a trauma resilience and embodied yoga teacher and is a firm believer in the power of the slower and more restorative yoga practices of yoga nidra, restorative yoga and gentle flow for supporting healing from trauma and for bringing regulation to the nervous system.
