I have loved yoga for many yeas, and my dream was to become a yoga teacher so that I could support others to enjoy yoga too. For years whilst practicing I thought yoga was a lovely exercise:asanas with a just a bit of meditation! I was so lucky to find Valentina, an amazing teacher and person who lives yoga - her lifestyle, passion and love of sharing yoga - everything about yoga! I It was not until I started her training which was face to face, 8 hours each Saturday that she opened my eyes to yoga philosophy - and as I read and learnt as much as I could, initially to pass my philosophy exam, but then as I explored the many teachings, meanings and as my understanding began to grow - I saw that there was SO MUCH to yoga. So much for me to spend the rest of my life exploring, learning, reflecting on, contemplating. This was the start of a new life for me. So I felt my year's training was such an amazing experience, and i will never be able to thank Valentina enough.
I am a midwife by background and I work supporting mothers and babies with breastfeeding. I use aromatherapy to support mothers, promoting a sense of calm and to build their confidence. I would like to link this experience with my yoga, so once I have gained a bit more experience teaching yoga, I would like to take a course in antenatal yoga, and then mother and baby yoga. I would like to wait until covid restrictions are lifted, as i would really like to do these courses in person. i have started an instagram page linking breastfeeding support and am starting to trickle in a bit of yoga for stress release, and nurturing for new mothers.
i have started to provide weekly zoom sessions for friends who are like me - as i can understand how I am feeling and what I need, so am sharing this with them. Once I develop my confidence and flow of sessions, I would like to expand this to others: friends of friends. Most of the sessions contain asana with some pranayama. I would like to slowly trickle in a bit of philosophy, as I feel those attending my sessions prefer just asanas/exercise which yoga provides. This will be my aim for the next few months.
